For Mandalore!

This is the Way

Last week’s episode of the Mandalorian brought one of my favorite Star Wars characters into live-action. Bo Katan is a fantastic character with an interesting and complicated past. Bo Katan is dedicated to a free Mandalore and has spent most of her life pursuing this goal. We first see her in the animated series Star Ware Clone Wars as a member of Death Watch, an extremist group with the goal of returning Mandalore to the roots of its warrior past. Once Maul assumes power, she breaks with Death Watch returning later to stage a successful siege removing him from the throne at the very end of the Clone Wars.

We don’t see Bo Katan again until Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels. Bo Katan explains to Sabine Wren that she had her time to rule and failed. Once the Emperor came to power, Bo Katan refused to obey his commands and was ousted from the throne by a rival clan. In Rebels, she reluctantly takes the Dark Saber and becomes the ruler of a united Mandalorian resistance.

Disclaimer – The above is just a brief summary and doesn’t give her character justice. Those who know her understand that her story is far more complex.

Bo Katan made her live-action debut during last week’s Mandalorian by actress Katee Sackhoff, who voiced the character in animation. The episode itself was perfection. Katee Sackhoff also has a great interview up on ETonline.com about reprising the role.

Bo Katan is a fan favorite who never got a fair share of Star Wars merchandise. With her on-screen appearance, that is all about to change.

HEROES & VILLAINS launched a new Nite Owl design this past week. The design is available in four different t-shirt colors (2 female cuts, 2 male cuts) and available in a pullover hoodie. I ordered the male grey shirt, and I’m eagerly awaiting its arrival.

Inspired by Clan Kryze, I wanted to make my own Nite Owl hoodie, and I found the perfect shade for this project on Amazon. Amazon’s essential collection provides an excellent range of options for project foundations. I ordered the Navy-Space dye color in size small. I grabbed some Nite Owl patches had lying around from Ryolth Relics and sewed them to the sweatshirt. The patches are 3” in diameter and have Velcro backing so that they can be removed from the sweatshirt for laundering. I used the Dark Saber as a photo prop.

I would love to have my own Dark Saber necklace charm. I think it would be a perfect item for RockLove to release, and they have done several sword charmed jewelry in the past. Maybe there is one in the future? Who knows? I would also love Bo Katan’s headband. I’ve purchased some Worbla in hopes to fabricate one in the future. However, it will be a while before I get to that project.

Did you enjoy seeing Bo Katan on screen? I’m sure there is more of her coming, and I can’t wait to see it!
